Terms of service

The terms that apply to buying and using dux.

Updated October 2026

These terms apply when you buy or use dux and when you use usedux.app. The license for the app itself is in the end user license agreement. “We” is Provaz B.V., the Netherlands (details below and on the about page).

Who we are

dux is made and sold by Provaz B.V. For license keys and Business seats bought on this website, Stripe acts as reseller and merchant of record; for purchases in the Mac App Store, Apple does.

Plans

dux has three plans. Free is the complete app with no time limit. Pro adds time saving and automation features. Business adds fleet reporting and organization defaults for managed Macs. What each plan includes is described on the pricing page. Prices on that page are the prices that apply when you buy.

Where you can buy

  • Mac App Store. Apple sells Free and Pro (an in-app purchase). Apple’s terms apply to that purchase, including payment and refunds.
  • Direct download. You buy Pro or Business with a license key. Stripe, Inc. is the seller of record (reseller) through Stripe Managed Payments. It charges you, collects and pays the applicable tax, and sends your receipt and invoice. Stripe’s terms apply to the payment.

Licenses and Macs

A Pro license covers up to 5 Macs that you own or use personally. A one time Pro license includes the updates of dux 1. A yearly Pro license includes all updates while it is active. A Business license is per seat, for the Macs of one organization, and is valid for the period you bought. Replacing a Mac does not lock you out. A yearly Pro license bought directly can be switched to a one time license for €20; the yearly subscription then stops renewing.

Renewal and cancellation

Yearly plans renew each year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep the license until the end of the period you paid for. Cancel an App Store subscription in your Apple Account settings, and a direct subscription through the link in your Stripe receipt.

Refunds and withdrawal

Refund window for direct purchases: to be added by the owner. Stripe may also refund a payment on its own under its rules. For App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

Using dux

You are responsible for reviewing what you remove. dux asks for review, moves items to the Trash and keeps an undo log, but you decide what to clean up. Keep a backup of files you cannot replace.

The website

You may read and link to usedux.app. Do not try to disturb it or to copy its contents in bulk. Guides and support articles are information, not professional advice for your particular Mac.

Liability

We build dux with care and provide it as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage or for data you lose because you confirmed a cleanup, except where the law does not allow us to exclude liability, for example for intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. A change does not reduce what you already bought.

Applicable law

Governing law and competent court: to be added by the owner.
